Mixing and Mastering

We harmonize individual tracks and elevate them into final compositions with commercial-level loudness and clarity. In the serene environment of Sapporo, we breathe life into your music.

Mixing and mastering are the "sculpting" stages of music production. By organizing the materials gathered during the recording phase and appropriately placing each instrument within the frequency spectrum, we achieve a clear sound devoid of muddiness. At Pipaniormanagement, we employ an approach that prioritizes the emotional dynamics of a song rather than mere volume adjustment.

Our primary goal is to accurately shape the vision intended by the artist. In our acoustically treated control room, equipped with high-fidelity near-field monitors and custom bass traps, we perform precise control from low to high frequencies to create a master that sounds optimal in any listening environment.

The Mixing and Mastering Process

01

Analysis and Organization

We review the delivered multi-tracks, perform noise reduction, and optimize phase alignment. The song structure is analyzed to determine the primary elements that require focus.

02

Balance Construction

Using EQ and compressors, we define the space for each track. Spatial effects such as reverb and delay are added to create depth and width.

03

Mastering Stage

Final loudness adjustment and tonal correction are applied to the mixed stereo file. We set loudness values appropriate for the genre to ensure commercial competitiveness.

04

Final Review and Delivery

We monitor the track across multiple devices to ensure there are no flaws. Once agreed upon, high-resolution files are delivered in the specified formats.

Who This Service Is For

Our mixing and mastering services are ideal for creators with the following needs. First, singer-songwriters who have gathered materials through home recording but struggle to achieve a professional "cohesion" or "impact." Second, bands that have finished recording and wish to optimize the balance of each instrument to reach a release-ready quality. We also support podcasters and voice artists who need to ensure clear, intelligible audio levels for their listeners. We translate musical intent into technical excellence.

Our Technical Approach

Our workflow begins with thorough listening. We ask you to share reference tracks based on your genre—whether it be pop, rock, jazz, or electronica—to clarify the desired direction. During mixing, we apply meticulous processing, such as high-pass filters to remove unnecessary low-end and side-chain processing to make the vocals stand out.

In the mastering phase, we unify the overall tone of the track and ensure maximum effective loudness while avoiding digital clipping. We are particularly dedicated to low-end control, utilizing our studio's custom bass traps to achieve a tight and pleasant bottom end. This ensures a consistent listening experience, from club systems to smartphones.

What the Client Needs to Prepare

To ensure a smooth start, we request the following materials and information. First, please provide multi-track files exported individually (WAV format, 44.1kHz/24bit or higher recommended). Each file should be clearly named, such as "Vocal_Main," "Kick," or "Snare." Information regarding the tempo (BPM) and key is also mandatory.

Furthermore, providing a concept sheet or two to three reference songs with a sound close to your ideal will prevent direction mismatches. If you have specific preferences—for example, "emphasize the bass in the chorus" or "apply a deep reverb to the vocals"—please include detailed notes with your delivery.

Deliverables and Expected Results

We provide data in the following formats. As the main master file, we deliver a high-resolution WAV file (24bit/44.1kHz or 48kHz). We can also provide MP3 files optimized for distribution platforms and checking. Upon request, we can create variations such as instrumental versions (no vocals) or TV mixes with emphasized vocals.

The result you receive is not just "increased volume," but "musical persuasion." With each instrument placed in its proper position and the vocals firmly in the foreground, the message of the song reaches the listener directly. This quality is achieved through professional monitoring environments and the objective judgment of experienced engineers.

Deadlines and Revisions

The standard delivery time is approximately one to two weeks from the receipt of materials. However, this may vary depending on the schedule; please confirm details when using the contact form. To ensure you are completely satisfied, Pipaniormanagement allows up to 3 rounds of revisions for mixing and mastering.

When requesting revisions, please provide specific timecodes (e.g., "please lower the guitar slightly around 1:20"). This allows for rapid and accurate adjustments. Significant changes in direction or the replacement of original source materials after the third round may incur additional fees.

What Is Not Included

This service is designed to "optimize existing recorded materials." Therefore, the following are not included: changes to song structure, arrangement suggestions, or recording new instruments (these are handled separately under production/arrangement). Additionally, severe clipping (distortion) occurring during the recording stage or noise resulting from an extremely low S/N ratio may be physically impossible to remove completely.

Furthermore, we do not provide cover art design or registration services for music distribution platforms. Our service is strictly specialized in the quality enhancement of audio files. For details on rights, please refer to the Master Rights and Format Selection Guide.

Pricing and VAT

Prices are calculated based on the number of tracks, the length of the song, and the scope of work (whether it is mixing only or includes mastering). While the prices listed are in Euro, payments made within Japan are subject to a 10% consumption tax in accordance with Japanese tax law. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you achieve high quality with home-recorded materials?

Yes, it is possible. We analyze the tonal tendencies of the recording environment and use EQ and saturation to bring the texture closer to professional studio recordings. However, if the audio is clipping (distorted), it may not be fully repairable, so we recommend recording with sufficient headroom.

What specifically counts as one of the "3 revisions"?

One round of feedback (a summarized list of requested changes) counts as one revision. For example, a single request saying "increase the vocals, reduce the reverb, and make the kick tighter" counts as one round.

Can I request mastering only?

Yes. If the mix is already complete and you only need final loudness adjustment and tonal balancing, please use the "Mastering Only" plan. We can process this if you provide a stereo mix file (WAV).
